What an exciting day for the Australia and New Zealand Tourism and Business Events Industry!

Haere Mai, welcome back Australia!

Today, the first flights are departing from Australia to New Zealand as part of quarantine-free travel between the two nations, and we couldn’t be more excited. This historic day means New Zealand can welcome you back for business events.

Bringing your business event to New Zealand will allow organisations from both nations to reconnect and reset; to open opportunities for trans-Tasman collaboration; and to encourage organisations to look beyond their borders again to create new networks, share knowledge, and drive research, innovation, and growth.

Tourism New Zealand General Manager Domestic & Business Events Bjoern Spreitzer says:
“The opening of quarantine-free travel between Australia and New Zealand is hugely positive for business events. Meeting in person allows for greater engagement and productivity and builds important relationships. We can’t wait to welcome Australians back to New Zealand.”

Come and see what’s new
We’ve been busy working on our business events offering while the borders were closed. Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is shaping up nicely for its 2021 opening; and construction work on both the Tākina Wellington Convention & Exhibition Centre, due to open in 2023, and the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) in Auckland, is well underway. We would love to show you around.

Added benefits for Australians
Tourism New Zealand is welcoming the return of trans-Tasman events by offering enhanced strategic and financial funding support to Australian-based event organisers. This includes an assessment of your delegates’ willingness to travel, plus a comprehensive budget and business case.
